Grumman F9F/F-9 Cougar was an aircraft carrier-based fighter aircraft for the United States Navy. Based on Grumman’s earlier F9F Panther, the Cougar replaced the Panther’s straight wing with a more modern swept wing. F9F-8 redesignated F-9J in 1962 and F9F-8P photo-reconnaissance version.
Kit features engraved panel lines, detailed cockpit, air-to-air refueling probe, detailed undercarriage bay and optional speed brakes, 2-piece canopy, indicator lights, optional folding wings, detailed wheel bays, optional open or closed cowling flaps, detailed engine, removable nose cone, external stores ((x4) 20 mm (0.79 in) M3 cannon, fuel tanks (x2), AIM-9B Sidewinders (x4) and 2.75 inch rockets (x4)) and photo etch parts (seat harness, instrument panel and console, wing fences, upper wing speed brakes, ext). (Options for both F9F-8 and F9F-8P).
Decals and color markings for (5) aircraft: F9F-8 (VF-61; VF-121 and Blue Angels) and F9F-8P (VFP-61 and US Navy) – includes instrument panel and consoles.
